I negotiated with brokers and carriers every day, and I am ready to move to the brokerage side as an independent agent. At Hamcow Logistics (2017-2024), I dispatched drayage loads and coordinated drivers, schedules, and shipment documentation. I negotiated lane rates with brokers, accepted bids on loads, and reviewed and signed the load contracts. That experience taught me how a quote becomes a covered load, what carriers need to say yes, and what customers expect once freight is moving. I also handled payroll and finance and tracked fuel, maintenance, and expense reports, so I understand the real cost of moving freight and can quote with margin in mind. Sourcing and managing carriers is a strength. I recruited, interviewed, and vetted drivers, coached them on timely deliveries, and worked with them to solve problems quickly, including emergency vehicle failures. I kept the fleet compliant with DOT federal regulations and led client compliance in line with customer policies and procedures. Customers stay with a broker who communicates clearly and delivers reliably, and I have worked that way throughout my career. An agent-based, commission-driven model suits me. I have worked as an independent contractor, and over a 20-year career in data and enterprise systems I developed the organization and discipline to manage records, deadlines, and follow-through with little supervision.
