CSX INTERMODAL (CSX) 1992 – 2006 Account Manager, Domestic Sales (2004 – 2006) Developed sales, marketing and customer service satisfaction strategies. Responsible for a specific territory within the Domestic Sales line of business. Served as primary spokesman in marketplace representing the company’s capabilities and products. • Increased margins in excess of 10% as contracts were renewed through price increases. • Provided direction to the logistics group to insure an adequate supply of equipment which resulted in revenue growth of 10% for selected accounts such as Smurfit, Whirlpool, Ashley Furniture and Bacardi/Grey Goose while developing selective price increases. • Grew sales in Key accounts such as Smurfit ($5M-25%) and Ashley Furniture ($2M-15%). Market Manager, Domestic Sales (1999 – 2004) Led sales team and developed sales tools and marketing and pricing strategies with P&L responsibility for a $480 million line of business within a domestic transportation division. Grew revenue in excess of 18% and was awarded a trip to the Greenbrier, the company’s 5 star hotel. • Developed and employed container and trailer cost models which were used to determine Marketing and Pricing strategic goals and resulted in CSXI Revenue growth in excess of 12% per year. Initiated bid process in pricing of empty equipment in peak season that generated $2 million. • Initiated market demographics data that identified equipment, market and customer trends and were used to develop action plans for senior management and pricing strategies. • Led negotiations and strategy of tri-party sales agreements for CSXI’s major customer base such as K-Mart, Whirlpool, and all major big-box retailers which resulted in a 15% revenue growth in 2004 through selective price increases from these accounts. Manager, Pricing - Container Program & Western Region (1996 – 1999) Developed the pricing strategy for the 48’ and 53’ container programs insuring that all of the revenues generated profitable returns. This strategy resulted in increasing the revenue from an annual base of $60 million to $284 Million, or almost 500% over a 3 year period. • Developed and implemented strategic container models which led to a reduction in empty repositioning by 10% per year with this strategy. • Performed profitability studies and performed analytical analysis to determine if new markets met growth criteria and presented this information to senior management. • Led the Western Region’s effort to minimize the surplus of containers during periods of seasonal weak market conditions with effective pricing strategies and improved container turn-time frequencies by 10% in addition to growing the fleet by 25%. Manager, Transfer-Price Planning & Analysis (1992 -1996) Developed and negotiated models for cost-sharing between CSXI and Sea Land Service for over $240 million of inland transportation expenses. • Developed and negotiated new equipment repositioning cost models utilized by CSXI's Financial Planning, Marketing, Pricing and Economic Analysis departments. Results of this effort was reduction in empty repositioning by more than 10% per year and an effective pricing base. • Had complete P&L responsibility for the $51 million Domestic Repositioning spend within CSX Intermodal. Led the Domestic repositioning cross-functional team in attaining volume growth on average of 12% ($6 million) per year and empty repositioning expense savings of 8% ($21 million) per year for Sea Land. SEA LAND SERVICE Manager, VSA Administration (1988 – 1992) Led a team in managing the Administration of the Vessel Sharing Agreements (VSAs) between Sea Land and other steamship carriers. • Developed models for billing of vessel operating, fuel, port related expenses and administration recoveries in excess of $60 million annually. • Led negotiations for settlement of $90 million in capital expenditures, space purchased and actual expenditures eliminating duplication of effort for all partners. • Developed models that increased revenue by 5% through negotiating ambiguous items and recommending settlements equitable to all parties. Manager, Vessel Accounting (1984 – 1988) Managed a team of staff accountants performing journal entries, account analysis, month end closing process, while maintaining compliance and reporting to MARAD. This included monthly fuel calculations and inventory analysis for $300M worth of expense including M & R and dry-dockings for 33 vessels. This also included the management of the contract for the governments Fast Sea Lift vessels from Marad and the DOD and the DCAA. Manager, Planning and Analysis, Atlantic & Americas Divisions (1976 – 1984) Performed forecasting and budgets along with financial analysis, month end closing process, and responded to numerous questions from management about the financial records of the divisions. This included vessels deployment analysis, terminal analysis and country profitability studies to determine viability.
